Patna: Rail travel across Bihar and Uttar Pradesh is set to face significant disruption, with the cancellation of the Amarnath Express and the diversion or rescheduling of several long-distance trains, railway authorities confirmed on Friday.
The Amarnath Express, operating between Bhagalpur and Jammu Tawi, has been cancelled for one day in both directions. Meanwhile, routes for eight major trains, including the Bihar Sampark Kranti Express and the Amrit Bharat Express to Delhi, have been altered. An additional 13 trains, such as the Sapt Kranti Express, will operate on rescheduled timings or under controlled movement.
The operational changes, expected to last until 2 May, have been necessitated by non-interlocking work at Gorakhpur station in Uttar Pradesh, affecting a crucial railway junction.
