Two New Power Substations Approved for Begusarai, MLA Kundan Kumar Highlights Key Issues in Assembly
Patna: Begusarai BJP MLA Kundan Kumar raised concerns in the Assembly about the district’s strained electricity supply system and the lack of divers in the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF). He highlighted that the excessive load on the three existing 33/11 kV power substations in Begusarai headquarters frequently disrupts power supply, causing inconvenience to residents.
In response, the Energy Minister announced the construction of two new 2×10 MVA capacity power substations to address the growing demand for electricity and ensure uninterrupted power supply. One substation will be built at Rashtrakavi Ramdhari Singh Dinkar Engineering College, with land acquisition and tender processes already underway. Another substation is planned for the southern part of the city, with the construction agency selected and land acquisition in progress. These projects aim to improve the reliability and quality of power supply in the district.
Kundan Kumar also raised the issue of the absence of divers in the SDRF team stationed in Begusarai, a district surrounded by several rivers and prone to water-related accidents. He pointed out that in cases of drowning, divers often have to be called from neighboring districts, delaying rescue and recovery operations and causing distress to victims’ families.
The MLA emphasized the urgent need for divers to be appointed locally to enhance the district’s disaster response capabilities. Addressing these concerns, he reiterated the importance of swift action in resolving the district’s critical infrastructure and safety challenges.
The initiatives for new substations and improved SDRF resources are expected to bring significant relief to the residents of Begusarai, addressing longstanding issues in power supply and emergency services.
