UP Police Encounter with Cattle Smugglers Near Bihar Border, Two Injured and Arrested

Bettiah: An encounter took place between cattle smugglers and the police just 3 kilometers inside the Bihar border in Padrauna, Uttar Pradesh. During the exchange of fire, two criminals were injured and subsequently arrested.

According to reports, the police had received a tip-off about the presence of cattle smugglers in the area. Acting swiftly, a team was deployed to cordon off the region. As soon as the police arrived, the smugglers opened fire, forcing the police to retaliate, police officials said.

The injured smugglers have been identified as Laddu alias Khurshid, a resident of Dhanaha, Bagaha, and Anoop Yadav from Gorakhpur. Both were apprehended in their wounded state and are currently receiving treatment at a nearby hospital. The police from Bagaha are conducting an in-depth investigation into their background.

Kushinagar Superintendent of Police (SP) Santosh Mishra confirmed the incident, stating, “The smugglers initiated the firing, and the police had no choice but to respond. The injured criminals are under custody, and the investigation is ongoing to uncover the full extent of the smuggling network.”

In addition to arresting the two smugglers, the police recovered weapons and other materials from the spot.
