Purnea / Patna : In a significant move to clamp down on corruption within the state’s bureaucracy, the Bihar Vigilance Department has intensified its investigation into Assistant Settlement Officer (ASO) Mukul Kumar Jha from Purnea. The department conducted raids at three locations, including Patna, Purnea, and Bhagalpur, targeting properties linked to the officer.

The case against Jha pertains to disproportionate assets. According to the charges, he is accused of possessing assets valued at Rs 56 lakh more than his declared income. The vigilance action follows a case filed by the department under the directives of the Patna High Court, which ordered the probe into Jha’s wealth.

At the time of the complaint, Jha was serving as the Circle Officer (CO) in Vaishali. Allegations surfaced that he had accumulated assets far beyond his known sources of income. The raids, which are currently underway, aim to uncover the extent of his illicit wealth, though authorities have yet to disclose any recoveries made during the operation.

This raid marks the latest in a series of actions by the vigilance department targeting corrupt officials, underscoring the ongoing efforts to root out corruption in Bihar’s public service.
