Patna: Bihar is set to roll out its much-anticipated Mahila Special Pink Bus service from the second week of June, with ten buses to operate in Patna and the remaining ten distributed across Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur, and Purnia. The buses, procured from Ropar, Punjab, are currently undergoing permit approvals by the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC), a process expected to be completed by the end of May.
The pink buses, exclusively for women passengers, are part of a larger initiative to provide safe and comfortable public transport for female commuters. In Patna, all routes will originate from Gandhi Maidan and connect to key locations such as Danapur station, Patna AIIMS, Rajendranagar, Patna Sahib station, AN College, and Rajapur bridge.
Officials said the initiative will later be expanded, with 100 more pink buses expected to be deployed in October based on the success of the initial phase.
Alongside the pink bus rollout, BSRTC will also begin operating 166 new deluxe buses later this month. These will connect all 102 subdivisions in Bihar to their respective district headquarters. The permit process for these deluxe buses has been completed, and the inauguration date is expected to be announced soon. The buses are fully prepared and drivers have already received the required training.
