Begusarai: A three-day workshop on “Basics of Western Pattern Making & Cutting – Womenswear” was successfully conducted at the Begusarai Extension Centre of NIFT Patna from November 29 to December 1, 2024. The workshop aimed to train Jeevika Didis, members of self-help groups, in drafting patterns for tops and skirts to enhance their skills and empower them towards greater self-reliance.
The training commenced with the development of basic bodice and skirt patterns, followed by sessions on dart manipulation to create various design variations for tops. Participants also explored pattern-making techniques for a range of skirts. The workshop expanded their expertise, enabling them to craft diverse womenswear designs. Additionally, participants expressed an interest in learning bag-making techniques, and training was provided in cutting and sewing bags on a production line.
This initiative is expected to significantly impact the livelihood of Jeevika Didis by equipping them with advanced skills. Many participants, who already create plastic bags for Jeevika on order, received further guidance to improve their production quality and efficiency.
The workshop concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony, attended by Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, who congratulated the participants and wished them success in their endeavors. The event was also graced by MLA Raj Kumar, MLA Kundan Kumar, and Minister of Sports Surendra Mehta, along with DPM Jeevika Avinash.
Director of NIFT Patna, Col. Rahul Sharma, extended his gratitude to Textile Minister Giriraj Singh for his encouragement and support. He also acknowledged the efforts of the Deputy Chief Minister for motivating the Jeevika Didis and inspiring them to achieve new milestones in their journey of empowerment.
