Yellow Alert Issued in North Bihar Districts Amid Rising Temperatures and Thunderstorm Forecast

Patna: Dry and humid weather conditions are likely to prevail across most parts of Bihar, including the state capital Patna, with partial cloud cover. However, a yellow alert has been issued for isolated thunderstorms and lightning in seven districts of north Bihar over the next 24 hours.
According to the Meteorological Centre, Patna, the alert is in effect for Sheohar, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, and Purnia. These areas may witness thunderstorms, lightning, and wind speeds of 30–40 km/h.
Meanwhile, the weather department has warned of a gradual rise in temperatures across the state. The maximum temperature is expected to increase by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius over the next three to four days. A more significant change in weather is anticipated starting June 6, with warnings of hot days from June 6 to 8 in several parts of the state.
Rainfall Recorded in Several Districts
Despite the overall dry forecast, sporadic rainfall was recorded in parts of Bihar during the past 24 hours, particularly in eastern and northern regions.
The highest rainfall was recorded in Andharatharhi in Madhubani with 60.2 mm, followed by Narpatganj in Araria with 60 mm, and Taibpur in Kishanganj with 50.8 mm. Other areas that received significant rainfall include Rajnagar and Jhanjharpur in Madhubani (45 mm each), Mohanpur in Gaya (35 mm), Mansi in Khagaria (34.6 mm), Barsoi in Katihar (32.8 mm), and Forbesganj (31.6 mm).
Rainfall was also recorded in Raghopur in Supaul (26.4 mm), Dighalbank in Kishanganj (26.2 mm), Bhawanipur in Purnia (21.8 mm), Bihpur in Bhagalpur (21.4 mm), and Chausa in Madhepura (16.8 mm).
Heatwave Conditions Loom
On Monday, Patna recorded a maximum temperature of 39.8°C, while Dehri, Buxar, and Bhojpur were the hottest places in the state at 40.2°C. A drop in maximum temperature was recorded in most districts, except Dehri, Gaya, Nalanda, Forbesganj, Kishanganj, Chhapra, Sasaram, and Valmiki Nagar.
