“You Are Woman….Don’t Know Anything”: Nitish Kumar’s Comment to RJD MLA Causes Uproar
Patna: The monsoon session of the Bihar Assembly has been marked by intense debates and disruptions. On the third day of the session, opposition MLAs caused a commotion over the issue of reservation, leading to a heated exchange between Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and RJD MLA Rekha Devi.
During the session, Rekha Devi, along with other opposition MLAs, demanded the inclusion of new reservation policies in the 9th Schedule. This demand was met with stern resistance from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who, in a moment of frustration, directed a sharp remark at the RJD MLA.
In response to the opposition’s protest, Nitish Kumar retorted, “Hey, you are a woman… you don’t know anything,” prompting significant backlash from the opposition benches. He further instructed, “Listen to me quietly, I am speaking right now.”
The Chief Minister’s comments quickly sparked a political firestorm. The RJD’s Siwan unit took to social media, condemning the remarks. “Look how Nitish Kumar ji is insulting a female legislator! You are a woman… you don’t know… keep quiet…,” read a post on their X handle.
The RJD further escalated the issue, demanding Nitish Kumar’s resignation. “Should this be the language of a Chief Minister? Anti-women Nitish should resign immediately. We hope that the Women Commission will take suo motu cognizance of this and take action,” the RJD stated.
