Patna: Controversial YouTuber Manish Kashyap was admitted to hospital in Patna on Monday after an alleged altercation with junior doctors at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), prompting concerns over patient safety and conduct within public institutions.
According to eyewitnesses and social media updates from Kashyap’s team, the incident occurred when he attempted to film hospital conditions during a visit to advocate for a patient. A heated argument reportedly broke out between Kashyap and a female doctor on duty, escalating into a physical confrontation.
Sources said a group of junior doctors allegedly assaulted Kashyap and forced him to delete the recorded footage. The YouTuber was allegedly confined for several hours, during which visible injuries appeared on his face. He was later hospitalised and treated.
Photos posted on Kashyap’s Facebook page confirmed his admission to hospital, with supporters offering prayers for his recovery. His team claimed he was attempting to expose systemic lapses in the public health system.
Kashyap, who has faced legal troubles before — including a high-profile arrest in 2023 for circulating fake videos about migrant workers — has often attracted public attention for his aggressive reporting style. Monday’s confrontation has reignited debates around press freedom, professional ethics, and the role of social media influencers in sensitive spaces like hospitals.
According to unconfirmed reports, Kashyap reached a settlement with the hospital authorities after apologising. Sources also claimed BJP leaders intervened to secure his release.
