Bhagalpur/Patna: Twelve young lawn tennis players have been selected to represent Bihar at the upcoming National School Lawn Tennis Championship in New Delhi following state-level selection trials held at Sandis Compound in Bhagalpur.
The state-level School Lawn Tennis Open Selection Competition was organised on Sunday by the District Administration, Bhagalpur, in collaboration with the Bihar Sports Department and Bihar State Sports Authority.
Players from different districts participated in the trials and competed for places in the Bihar team.
Players Tested on Fitness and Court Performance
The selection trials were held at the lawn tennis courts at Sandis Compound.
Players were assessed on several aspects of their performance, including technical skills, match fitness, stamina and overall performance on the court.
Following the trials, a total of 12 players were selected across three age categories — Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19.
Six Girls and Six Boys Selected
The selected team comprises six girls and six boys, with players from Patna and Bhagalpur featuring prominently in the squad.
The selected players will travel to New Delhi next week to represent Bihar at the national-level competition.
U-14 Category
In the Under-14 girls’ category, Amira Agarwal from Patna and Paridhi Thakur from Bhagalpur have been selected.
The Under-14 boys’ team includes Ankur Alok from Patna and Pranjal Srivastava from Patna.
U-17 Category
In the Under-17 girls’ category, Bhargavi Sharma from Bhagalpur and Anushka Raina from Bhagalpur have secured places in the Bihar team.
The boys’ category will feature Atharva Anand from Patna and Priyansh Thakur from Bhagalpur.
U-19 Category
The Under-19 girls’ team comprises Aditi Mishra from Patna and Tanisha Singh from Bhagalpur.
In the boys’ category, Abhir Ranjan from Patna and Aman Singh from Patna have been selected.

DSO Announces Bihar Team
District Sports Officer Shamim Ansari officially announced the names of the selected players.
He said the 12 players would represent Bihar at the prestigious national school lawn tennis championship scheduled to be held in New Delhi.
The selection of players from Patna and Bhagalpur reflects the growing participation of young athletes from the two districts in school-level lawn tennis.
Coaches Congratulate Selected Players
Sports officials and coaches congratulated the selected players and expressed hope that they would perform strongly at the national championship and bring recognition to Bihar.
Coaches Anju Verma, Abhinav Kumar, Vishal, Vivek Kumar, Kaustubh and Ansh Kumar, along with event manager Sanjay Bharti, were among those present during the selection event.
Parents, sports enthusiasts and officials also attended the trials and encouraged the young players.
The selected athletes will now prepare to represent Bihar on the national stage in New Delhi.
