Patna: In a remarkable achievement, 26 pre-final-year undergraduate students from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Patna have been selected for coveted summer internships at Google, one of the world’s leading and most innovative technology giants. The selected group includes 11 female and 15 male students, reflecting the institute’s emphasis on diversity and academic excellence. These students will undertake a 12-week internship programme as Software Engineering Interns (SWE Interns) at Google, from May to July 2025.
IIT Patna Director Prof. T. N. Singh expressed his happiness and congratulated all the selected students. He further said, “This is a proud moment for the institute. It reflects the continuous and dedicated efforts of our students and the supportive environment we have created for their overall development.”
Prof. A. K. Thakur (Dean, Administration), Dr N. K. Tomar (Chairman, CCDC), and Dr Rishav Singh (Chair, CCDC), along with faculty and staff, also extended their congratulations and called it a significant milestone for IIT Patna.
The Training and Placement Officer, Kripa Shankar Singh, stated that the students were selected through a rigorous selection process, which included an online assessment. The shortlisted candidates underwent two rounds of interviews and have been offered the role of Software Engineering Intern (SWE Intern).
Out of the 26 candidates selected for the Google internship, 16 are from B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, 5 from B.S. in Mathematics and Computing, 4 from Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, and 1 from B.Tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
This achievement underlines the growing reputation of IIT Patna as a centre of excellence in technical education and innovation.
