Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced that all employed teachers in Bihar will continue working at their current postings without relocation. Speaking at a ceremony in Patna’s convention hall, he also declared that 1.14 lakh employed teachers have been granted state employee status. This decision will impact around 3.5 lakh employed teachers across the state.
Addressing the gathering, Nitish Kumar reflected on the government’s efforts since 2005 to improve education infrastructure. He highlighted measures such as increasing schools, appointing teachers, and introducing bicycles for students to encourage education. He mentioned that 3.67 lakh teachers were recruited between 2006-07, with an additional 2.17 lakh appointed through the BPSC in 2023.
The Chief Minister also spoke about past political alliances and emphasised his commitment to the current direction of governance, remarking humorously that he would not waver again. Reflecting on Bihar’s progress, he criticised the previous regime, claiming it lacked basic facilities like schools and roads, and credited his government for the visible advancements in the state.
Education Minister Sunil Kumar praised the progress in Bihar’s education sector, noting the department’s ₹63,000 crore budget for 2024 and the presence of 5.77 lakh teachers. He encouraged teachers to remain disciplined and dedicated to shaping Bihar’s future through education.
The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Education Minister Sunil Kumar, and other state officials. The education department organised the program to hand over appointment letters to teachers who passed the competency examination.
