47,000 First-Time Voters in Patna as Voter Base Grows by Over 100,000 in a Year
Patna: Patna district has witnessed a significant surge in its voter base, with 1.01 lakh new voters added in the past year, according to the final voter list published on 7 January 2025. Of these, 47,075 are first-time voters aged between 18 and 19, marking a milestone in the region’s democratic engagement.
The latest data reveals that the total number of voters across the district’s 14 assembly constituencies now stands at 50,03,061, compared to 49,01,306 as recorded on 22 January 2024. This increase of 1,01,755 voters reflects a robust effort to expand the electorate ahead of upcoming elections.
A Step Forward for Representation
District Magistrate Dr Chandrashekhar Singh expressed his satisfaction with the growth in voter numbers. “This significant increase is encouraging. I urge all eligible individuals who are not yet registered to include their names in the voter list and actively participate in the democratic process,” he said.
The district’s voter demographics now include 26,31,259 male voters, 23,71,635 female voters, and 167 third-gender voters, alongside 12,541 service voters. The sex ratio stands at 901 female voters per 1,000 male voters.
Special Summary Revision Brings 40,407 New Voters
The special summary revision conducted from 29 October 2024 to 7 January 2025 played a crucial role in this expansion. During this period, 64,749 names were added to the voter list, while 24,342 names were removed, resulting in a net addition of 40,407 voters.
This latest revision underscores the district’s efforts to ensure comprehensive voter registration and reflects the Election Commission’s commitment to an inclusive and transparent electoral process.
With over 50 lakh registered voters now on record, including thousands of young first-timers, Patna is set to play a vital role in the upcoming elections.
