55 agendas approved in Bihar cabinet meeting: Xavier University to be established in Patna

Patna: In a significant development, the Bihar cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, approved 55 agendas during its latest meeting at the Cabinet Secretariat. Among the key decisions, 21 proposals related to the government’s Pragati Yatra initiative were sanctioned, with a total allocation of ₹2,960 crore.

One of the major highlights was the approval to establish Xavier University in the Digha Ghat area of Patna. The move is expected to boost the state’s higher education infrastructure. Additionally, the cabinet directed all departments to prepare for the upcoming budget session, scheduled to begin next month.

Budget highlights and recent decisions

In the previous cabinet meeting, 43 agendas were approved, including a notable amendment to the Bihar Special Teacher Rules. The provision for taking the competency test was increased from three to five attempts, offering more opportunities to aspiring teachers.

Further, the cabinet approved an increase in dearness allowance from 239% to 246% under the Sixth Central Pay Commission, benefitting state government employees.
