Building Construction Department Secretary Kumar Ravi Inspects Vaishali’s Buddha Samyak Darshan Stupa
Patna: Kumar Ravi, secretary of the building construction department, conducted an inspection of the under-construction Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum-cum-Stupa in Vaishali on Monday. The stupa, a tribute to the region’s Buddhist heritage, is nearing completion, with its finishing work in full swing.
During the inspection, Ravi highlighted the monumental scale and challenges of the project. “The finishing work of the Vaishali Stupa was inspected today. A total of 38,500 stones have been installed, and the final five keystones are now being placed. The process of installing stones weighing up to 12 tonnes at significant heights using cranes, and then meticulously realigning them, has been a novel experience for the engineers involved. This has been a challenging yet rewarding project from a civil engineering perspective,” he said.
Accompanying the inspection was Professor Singhal, a senior civil engineering professor from IIT Patna, who has been advising on the complex technical aspects of the construction.
The Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum-cum-Stupa has been constructed using pink sandstone sourced from Rajasthan, renowned for its durability and aesthetic appeal. Designed to serve as a significant landmark, the structure combines architectural grandeur with historical significance.
Ravi expressed optimism about the stupa’s potential to enhance tourism in Vaishali, an important site in Buddhist history. “The work is in its final stages. Once completed, this stupa will become a major tourist attraction, revitalizing Vaishali as a center of cultural and historical tourism,” he remarked.
The stupa, built under the Building Construction Department’s initiative, commemorates Lord Buddha’s last sermon at Vaishali and aims to promote Buddhist teachings. Alongside the stupa, the museum will house artifacts and exhibits to educate visitors on Buddhism and its profound impact on the region.
Vaishali holds a special place in Buddhist history as the site where Lord Buddha announced his impending nirvana. The Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum-cum-Stupa is poised to honor this legacy and attract pilgrims and history enthusiasts from around the globe.
