Patna/Buxar: Power supply in parts of Buxar district was affected after a technical fault developed in an 80 MVA power transformer at the Grid Substation (GSS) in Dumraon, prompting the Bihar State Power Transmission Company Limited (BSPTCL) to make alternative arrangements.
BSPTCL managing director Dr Nawal Kishore Choudhary said immediate action was taken after the fault was detected, with teams deployed to the substation and alternative power arrangements made for rural and urban areas of the district.
45MW arranged through alternative lines
Under the emergency arrangement, around 30MW of power is being supplied at 33kV through the 132kV double-circuit line connecting the new Dumraon GSS to Dumraon.
Another 15MW is being arranged through a 33kV feeder of the new Dumraon GSS, taking the alternative supply to around 45MW.
BSPTCL teams have been deployed at the site to address the technical problem and support restoration efforts.
Repair work underway
Choudhary said the technical team had identified the problem following inspection and coordination and was working to maintain alternative power supply while repairs were carried out.
The manufacturer’s team is undertaking technical repairs and testing on an expedited basis, according to BSPTCL.
The company is also taking steps to install an additional 80 MVA transformer at the Dumraon Grid Substation.
Normal supply to resume after stabilisation
BSPTCL said normal power supply would be restored once the situation is fully stabilised.
The transmission company said it was taking measures to minimise disruption and ensure reliable power supply to consumers while the repair and testing work continues.
