Gaya: As the world-renowned Baudh Mahotsav 2025 prepares to kick off on January 31 in Gaya, officials are racing against the clock to finalise arrangements for the three-day event, which will feature international and local performances, as well as cultural exhibitions.
A high-level review meeting, chaired by District Magistrate Dr. Thiyagarajan SM at the Mahabodhi Cultural Centre in Bodh Gaya, has ensured that preparations are progressing at a rapid pace. Dr. Thiyagarajan has directed all relevant authorities to complete their tasks with urgency, underscoring the importance of timely and seamless execution.
This year’s festival promises to be a truly international affair, with performances from distinguished artists hailing from six countries: Vietnam, Bhutan, Cambodia, Thailand, Sri Lanka, and Japan. Alongside these global talents, local artists from across India will also showcase their work, offering a vibrant fusion of cultures and giving prominence to regional art and traditions.
The festival will also feature a diverse array of stalls, ranging from rural handicrafts to a food fair, along with the “Gram Shri Mela” (Village Craft Fair). Artisans from Bihar and other states will display their crafts, providing visitors a chance to explore India’s rich artisan heritage.
Focus on Infrastructure and Public Services
In a bid to improve accessibility, the festival organisers are introducing e-rickshaw services for the public, facilitating travel between Road One and the Mahabodhi Temple. Additional buses will run between Gaya and Bodh Gaya, while arrangements for traffic management and parking are being carefully planned to accommodate the large influx of visitors.
The area around the Mahabodhi Temple will be illuminated with spectacular lighting, and extensive decorations will be set up between Dumuhan and the temple. At Kalachakra Ground, organisers have ensured that ample toilet facilities and drinking water stations will be available, alongside regular fogging and cleanliness efforts to maintain public health and safety. CCTV surveillance and strict fire safety measures will be in place throughout the event.
A grand stage will be erected at Kalachakra Ground, where international performances will take place, and organisers are placing particular emphasis on the quality and design of the stage. VIPs, media representatives, and general attendees will have separate seating arrangements to ensure a comfortable experience for all.
