Bihar Launches Agriculture Radio to Empower Farmers with Timely Information

Patna: Farmers in Bihar now have access to a dedicated agricultural radio service aimed at providing real-time farming updates, weather forecasts, and a platform for direct communication. Bihar Agriculture Radio was inaugurated on Thursday by Agriculture Minister Mangal Pandey at Krishi Bhawan in Mithapur. The event was chaired by Agriculture Secretary Sanjay Kumar Agarwal.

Speaking at the launch, Pandey highlighted the initiative as a step towards modernising agricultural practices in the state. “Agriculture radio has been started to provide farmers with current information about farming, weather updates, and to facilitate communication with them,” he said.

The service is designed to operate efficiently on most smartphones while consuming minimal data, according to Agarwal. It will also capture feedback from farmers and relay it to the broadcasting centre, ensuring that content remains relevant and tailored to their needs. Download links for the service will be disseminated through WhatsApp to ensure accessibility.

A Digital Resource for Farmers

Bihar Agriculture Radio is available for download on both the Play Store and App Store. The app features live streaming, as well as audio and video content in podcast format, allowing farmers to access information anytime, from anywhere.

The initiative reflects a broader push towards leveraging technology to empower farmers, enabling them to make informed decisions and adapt to changing conditions.
