Bihar’s First High-Tech Technology Centre Approved in Gaya: Jitan Ram Manjhi Hails ‘Revolutionary Step’ for Employment and Development
Gaya: The Bihar government has greenlit the establishment of a state-of-the-art technology centre in Mauja-Degaon, Khijarsarai, Gaya district, under the Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME). The initiative, aimed at fostering technological advancement and employment, will be developed on a 20-acre site at an estimated cost of ₹200 crore.
A Vision for Technological and Economic Growth
Union MSME Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi described the project as a transformative move for Bihar’s development. “While Patna already hosts a technology centre, the growing population and rising technical demands necessitated another centre in Gaya. This project marks a significant leap forward in addressing those needs,” he said.
The proposed facility will focus on providing cutting-edge training and employment opportunities to the youth of Bihar. The minister emphasised that the centre would serve as a hub for regional progress, ushering in a technological revolution and boosting the state’s economic potential.
Employment and Advanced Capabilities
According to Manjhi, the technology centre is expected to generate direct and indirect employment opportunities for 500 to 1,000 people. Additionally, the facility will produce equipment for advanced technological sectors, including space programmes, further catalysing development.
“The centre will empower young people by training them in advanced fields like engineering, 3D printing, automation, and manufacturing. This aligns with the government’s commitment to creating a skilled workforce,” Manjhi added.
Construction Timeline and Government Support
The construction of the facility will commence shortly to ensure that its benefits reach the local population as soon as possible. Manjhi praised the Nitish Kumar-led state government for its support, calling the project a gateway to new opportunities in technology and employment for Bihar.
What is a Technology Centre?
Technology centres are facilities designed to provide technical support, training, and innovation resources for small and medium enterprises (SMEs). These centres focus on cutting-edge technologies such as advanced manufacturing, 3D printing, and the production of components for space exploration, fostering innovation and growth across industries.
This new technology centre in Gaya is poised to play a pivotal role in reshaping Bihar’s industrial landscape, ensuring that the state keeps pace with India’s broader technological ambitions.
