Patna: The Bihar government has sanctioned over Rs 56.81 crore for the construction of Pipa bridges across the Ganga and Kosi rivers in six districts.

A 732-meter-long Pipa bridge will be constructed between Mahuli Ghat and Sitabdiara in Bhojpur district, connecting it to Ballia district in Uttar Pradesh. This project has been allocated Rs 15.20 crore.

In Madhepura, a 500-meter-long Pipa bridge will be built between Zeromile and Kapasia Ghat on the Kosi river, benefiting approximately 80,000 people in 14 panchayats of Madhepura and Khagaria districts. This project has been allocated Rs 25.13 crore.

Another 732-meter-long pontoon bridge will be constructed between Nainijor village in Buxar district and Haldi village in Ballia district, Uttar Pradesh, at a cost of Rs 16.47 crore.

These bridges will significantly improve connectivity and transportation for residents living along the riverbanks in these six districts, who currently face significant challenges due to the lack of reliable river crossings.
