Patna: Prashant Kishor, founder of Jan suraaj, ended his 14-day hunger strike demanding the cancellation of the BPSC 70th Preliminary Test. The strike, which began on January 2, concluded at the Jan suraaj Ashram on LCT Ghat. A BPSC candidate offered him juice to break his fast, following rituals that included a bath in the Ganga, prayers, and a havan.
Kishor, hospitalized due to deteriorating health on January 7, resumed his protest upon discharge. Addressing supporters, he demanded a public mental health report on Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, questioning his decision-making. He also warned of legal action against officials involved in forcibly removing his protest on January 6, asserting his commitment to justice for students.
Highlighting the need for systemic reforms, Kishor announced plans to train one lakh Bihar youth in Satyagraha. These youth will visit villages and cities, raising awareness about governance issues and citizen rights. Training sessions are set to begin on January 20 and will run until March 11.
Meanwhile, the Patna High Court is deliberating the petition filed by Jan suraaj and other parties against alleged irregularities in the BPSC 70th exam. A verdict is expected soon. Kishor expressed confidence in the judiciary, stating that if the High Court’s decision is unfavorable, the case will be taken to the Supreme Court.
The BPSC controversy stems from discrepancies in the exam conducted on December 13 at 912 centers. Allegations of paper leaks and delayed distribution have fueled protests, including demands for re-examinations and the withdrawal of cases against demonstrators.
