Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Makes Controversial Comment During Pragati Yatra in Begusarai
Begusarai: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited Begusarai on Saturday as part of his ongoing Pragati Yatra, engaging with Jeevika workers and inaugurating development projects. Speaking to the Jeevika Didis, CM Nitish remarked on the progress achieved, stating, “Did any girl wear good clothes earlier? Now, things have improved significantly. Everyone is wearing good clothes. Earlier, I couldn’t say this, but now it feels great. Wherever I go, I talk to Jeevika Didi.”
The remark, seen as a gaffe, drew attention on social media and in political circles. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary were also present during the interaction.
Earlier, during a similar event in Samastipur, Nitish acknowledged the role of women in society, saying, “Mother has given birth to all of us.” This prompted a light moment when Deputy CM Choudhary remarked, “Let’s go, sir… it’s done.”
In Begusarai’s Maniyappa village, Matihani block, CM Nitish launched several schemes and inspected stalls set up by Jeevika and the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS). He also inaugurated a newly constructed pond and participated in a symbolic fish-seeding ceremony.
Security was tight for the visit, with the unusual arrangement of two helipads at three locations to ensure smooth logistics. This marks Nitish’s eighth visit to Begusarai but the first with such extensive preparations.
