Rahul Gandhi’s Remarks on Caste Census Ignite Political Clash in Bihar

Patna: A political confrontation has erupted between the NDA and Congress over Rahul Gandhi’s remarks on caste census and paper leak cases. While Union Minister and JDU leader Lallan Singh accused Congress of tearing the Constitution apart, BJP alleged that Rahul Gandhi is igniting caste tensions. In response, Congress dismissed the claims, stating that the ruling parties are afraid of Rahul Gandhi’s push for justice.

Lallan Singh Targets Rahul Gandhi

Lallan Singh criticized Rahul Gandhi for questioning the caste census conducted in Bihar and linked the paper leak cases to Jharkhand, where Congress is in power. He stated, “Congress has shredded the Constitution in the past and humiliated the country by imposing Emergency. Rahul Gandhi sees everything as fake, but he should know how many schedules and sections are in the Constitution.” Singh also attacked Congress for its handling of paper leak cases in Rajasthan, asserting that no major action was taken under their governance.

BJP Accuses Rahul of Dividing Society

BJP spokesperson Asitnath Tiwari supported Lallan Singh’s remarks, accusing Rahul Gandhi of “playing with Bihar’s caste fire.” He stated, “Bihar has experienced severe caste violence during RJD and Congress regimes, leading to massacres. Rahul Gandhi’s actions could reignite such unrest, harming both Bihar and himself.”

Congress Hits Back

Congress spokesperson Gyan Ranjan retaliated by alleging that the BJP and JDU fear Rahul Gandhi’s commitment to justice for backward classes. “Their throne is shaking, and they’re resorting to baseless statements. The Bihar government has failed to act on the 10 paper leaks in a year. Let them share data on arrests if they’ve made any,” he said.

Rahul Gandhi’s Statement

Speaking at the Congress’s Samvidhan Suraksha Sammelan in Patna, Rahul Gandhi called for a nationwide caste census, claiming the one conducted in Bihar was flawed. He emphasized, “Policies should be based on accurate data from a caste census. Congress will pass the caste census in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha, breaking the 50% reservation barrier.” He also criticized the Bihar government for youth unemployment, inflation, and frequent paper leaks.

Paper Leak Controversy

Lallan Singh shifted the focus to the Congress-led government in Jharkhand, alleging that “all strings of the paper leak cases are connected to Jharkhand.” He argued that the Congress should first explain the situation in their governed states before pointing fingers at Bihar.

Growing Political Tensions

The clash has deepened the divide between the opposition and ruling parties in Bihar. With allegations and counter-allegations flying, the issue of caste census and governance has once again become a focal point in Bihar’s political discourse.
