Subway to Ease Traffic Near Patna Junction, Multi-Modal Hub Inspected
Patna: Traffic congestion near Patna Junction is set to ease as the construction of a subway under the Smart City Scheme progresses. The subway, located between Mahavir Mandir and GPO Golambar, aims to facilitate smooth movement for pedestrians both at ground level and underground. Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha inspected the ongoing construction of the multi-modal hub near Patna Junction and the subway, emphasizing that the project will not only address traffic issues but also improve air quality in the area.
The Deputy CM highlighted that the completion of the project would enhance convenience for commuters and reduce pollution in the vicinity. He directed the concerned officials to expedite the work to ensure timely completion. The subway will also include state-of-the-art features such as power supply, oxygen provision, fire safety systems, CCTV cameras, and drainage facilities. Security personnel will monitor the subway round the clock, ensuring public safety in all weather conditions.
During the inspection, Vijay Sinha also reviewed the Mithapur-Mahuli-Punpun elevated corridor project. Stretching over 10 km, this corridor includes more than 7 km of elevated roads. The Deputy CM noted that this project would alleviate traffic congestion in Mithapur and its neighboring areas, benefiting the educational institutions located nearby.
The multi-modal hub and elevated corridor projects are part of the city’s broader infrastructure upgrades under the Smart City Scheme. These developments are expected to transform the commuting experience in Patna while addressing long-standing issues of traffic and pollution.
