Engaging Youth in Agriculture: ICAR Patna Workshop Highlights Role of Profitable Agribusiness Ventures
Patna: Connecting youth with profitable agricultural businesses was the focus of a two-day national workshop organized by ICAR Atari in Patna. Experts emphasized the need to engage young people in ventures that offer quick and substantial returns.
Dr. R.K. Singh, Assistant Director General of ICAR Agriculture Extension, highlighted the importance of effectively disseminating information about the ongoing Arya project to attract youth towards agriculture and agribusiness. He stressed the crucial role of social media platforms in achieving this goal. Dr. Singh further emphasized the need to identify and promote successful youth role models in the field of agricultural business to inspire others. He also advocated for stronger collaboration between NABARD and other financial institutions with the Arya project.
The workshop, attended by scientists from 100 Krishi Vigyan Kendras across India, saw active participation and discussions on various aspects of youth engagement in agriculture. Dr. V.V. Sadamate, former Planning Commission member, Dr. M.M. Adhikari, Dr. Abhijit Kar, Dr. Anjani Kumar, Dr. D.V. Singh, Dr. Keshav, Dr. Pragya, Dr. J.P. Mishra, Dr. Pradeep Day, Dr. A.K. Mohanty, and Dr. S.R.K. Singh were among the prominent figures present at the closing session.
Agricultural scientists emphasized the need to enhance the professional and technical capabilities of Krishi Vigyan Kendras to effectively support youth engagement in agriculture. The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks by Principal Scientist Dr. Monobrullah.
