Bihar lacks industries; youth forced to work as laborers: Prashant Kishor

Patna: Prashant Kishor, the architect of Jan Suraaj, criticized the 35 years of governance under Lalu Prasad Yadav and Nitish Kumar, highlighting the absence of major industries in Bihar. He stated that while steel, TV, and cement are not manufactured in the state, Bihar is consistently producing laborers. He pointed out that the lack of factories has left the youth with no choice but to migrate to other states in search of work.

Kishor further alleged that the education system has deteriorated under the leadership of Lalu and Nitish. According to him, their combined rule has resulted in widespread illiteracy, forcing children to take up labor jobs instead of pursuing education.

Drawing comparisons between the two regimes, he remarked that under Lalu Prasad’s tenure, criminals harassed the public, while Nitish Kumar’s government, in alliance with BJP, has allowed officials to exploit citizens. Kishor emphasized that bribery has become rampant in state offices, where even basic services like land-related work or obtaining birth and death certificates are stalled without bribes.
