Patna: A yellow alert for dense fog has been issued for 12 districts in Bihar today, while the weather is expected to remain clear and normal in the remaining 26 districts, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Daytime sunshine is likely to keep temperatures above normal in most areas, with night temperatures expected to rise by 2-3°C.
Kumar Gaurav, a scientist at the Meteorological Centre, said that foggy conditions will persist in the final days of January and early February, although sunshine during the day will bring some relief from the cold. However, westerly winds may cause fluctuations in temperature.
Meanwhile, Sheikhpura recorded the highest maximum temperature in the state over the last 24 hours at 25.1°C, while Rohtas registered the lowest minimum temperature at 6.2°C. The IMD has released temperature data for nine districts.
Patna is expected to experience light fog in the morning, but sunshine will gradually improve visibility and bring warmth during the day. Wind speeds are forecast to remain low, reducing the intensity of the cold.
The IMD also predicted that two western disturbances could affect the western Himalayan region this week. The first system will become active on January 29, followed by another on February 1, potentially leading to further weather changes in Bihar.
Seasonal Ailments on the Rise
Winter illnesses are not limited to viral infections; seasonal depression, also known as signal depression, is on the rise. Experts say that symptoms include increased sleep, appetite changes, and irritability, affecting both ordinary individuals and those with pre-existing mental health conditions.
With fluctuating temperatures and foggy mornings, residents are advised to take necessary precautions against weather-related health concerns.
