Patna: The manufacturing of train sets for the Patna Metro has started in Bengaluru. In the first phase, two metro trains will run on a 6.63 km elevated track in Corridor 2. The state government has allocated Rs. 115 crore for the project, and a Bengaluru-based agency has been assigned the task of building one set of trains. Meanwhile, materials for railway tracks have been ordered from Patna, and the track-laying work is set to begin in February.
Passengers will have access to only four stations in the initial phase: Malahi Pakadi, Bhootnath, Zero Mile, and ISBT. Khemnichak station will be bypassed for now due to delays in its construction. As it is an interchange station, significant work is still pending, making it impossible to meet the targeted completion date of August 15.
Construction work at three key stations—ISBT, Zero Mile, and Malahi Pakadi—is progressing rapidly, with more than 80 percent of the work completed. The Bhootnath station is also seeing fast-paced development. Additionally, the administrative building at the bus depot has been completed.
Corridor 1 of the metro will include stations at Danapur, Saguna Mode, RPS, Pataliputra, Ruknpura, Rajabazar, Patna Zoo, Vikas Bhawan, Vidyut Bhawan, Patna Station, Mithapur, Ramakrishna Nagar, Jaganpura, and Khemnichak. Corridor 2 will have stations at Patna Station, Gandhi Maidan, Akashvani, PMCH, Patna University, Moin Ul Haq, Rajendra Nagar, Malahi Pakadi, Khemnichak, Bhootnath Road, Zero Mile, and New ISBT.
