Tejashwi Yadav Responds to Speculation on Political Entry of Nitish Kumar’s Son

Patna: As speculation mounts over the potential entry of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s son, Nishant Kumar, into politics, Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav has offered a welcoming stance. Speaking in Hajipur on Friday, Yadav remarked that if Nishant decides to step into the political arena, his arrival would be greeted positively.

“Nishant Kumar’s father, Nitish Kumar, is not in the best of health, and it is only natural for the son to take on political responsibilities. If he chooses to enter politics, it will be a good thing. He is a straightforward man,” Tejashwi stated, acknowledging the potential for fresh leadership.

However, Tejashwi also took the opportunity to take a swipe at Nitish Kumar’s previous stance on nepotism. “This is the same Nitish Kumar who, before 2024, frequently delivered speeches condemning nepotism. But if you look at his cabinet now, 80% of the people are nepotists,” Tejashwi pointed out, implying a contradiction between Kumar’s past rhetoric and the current state of affairs.

The possibility of Nishant Kumar entering politics was further discussed by former MP Anand Mohan, who voiced support for the move on January 27. “Why can’t a leader’s son become a leader? If Nishant comes into politics, he will be welcome,” Mohan said, emphasizing that familial ties should not be a barrier to political participation.
