Teenager Who Posted Videos as Female Persona Found Dead in Begusarai
Begusarai: A 17-year-old student was found dead at his home in Begusarai on Saturday, hours after posting a video on social media. The boy, identified as Ankit Kumar, was found hanging in his room in Dariyapur village, under Nayagaon police station limits.
According to family members, Ankit had returned home from school when his mother scolded him over an issue. Shortly after, he went to his room and took his own life.
Ankit, son of Shambhu Pandit, was an active content creator on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube, where he posted videos dressed as a female persona under the name “Rani.” Just two hours before his death, he had uploaded a reel featuring a line that read: “Tell me the truth, what was the first letter of the name of the person with whom you fell in love for the first time?”
Neighbours who arrived at the scene recalled the moments before the body was discovered. “His mother called me for help. When we reached, the door was locked from inside. We had to break it open, and that’s when we found him,” said Santosh Kumar. Another neighbour, Padam Pandit, remarked: “There was nothing unusual—parents scold children all the time.”
At the time of the incident, Ankit’s father was away for work, leaving only Ankit and his mother, Renu Devi, at home.
Nayagaon police were informed immediately. “The case appears to be a suicide. The body has been sent for postmortem, and further investigations are underway,” said Nayagaon police station in-charge Jitendra Kumar.
