Patna: Patna University is set to build a state-of-the-art indoor stadium complex and an incubation-cum-multipurpose academic building, aiming to enhance sports facilities and promote student entrepreneurship. The projects will be funded under the PM Usha scheme, with the university recently securing Rs 100 crore for various developmental initiatives. Construction will commence with the release of the first installment of funds.

Incubation Centre to Support Student Startups

The proposed Incubation Centre will focus on training students in self-employment and business development. The university plans to evaluate student business proposals and provide financial assistance to the best plans.

According to Prof. Shailendra, Director of the Incubation Centre, the facility will be constructed on the land behind the Chemistry Department. He added that the centre will coordinate with Bihar’s Industry Department to facilitate funding opportunities for students.

Meanwhile, the university’s placement cell has issued a Google form to gather details of final-year students and recent graduates. This initiative aims to keep them informed about upcoming job fairs and training camps. Placement cell in-charge Prof. S.B. Lal noted that TCS recently recruited 30 students from the university.

Boost for Sports Facilities

The indoor stadium will provide much-needed training space for students, ensuring better sports development and timely access to facilities. The university is also nearing completion of a swimming pool at the Saidpur campus under the Khelo India scheme, which is expected to be handed over soon, said Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ajay Singh.
