Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Commemorates Jarasandha Mahotsav at Rajgir
Patna: In a solemn observance of the 5226th birth anniversary of Magadh Emperor Jarasandh, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar participated in the Jarasandha Mahotsav, a grand event organized to honor the historical legacy of the revered emperor. The Chief Minister (CM) paid his respects to Emperor Jarasandha by offering floral tributes at his statue and engaging in prayers at the ancient temple in Rajgir dedicated to the emperor.
Wishing for the happiness, peace, and prosperity of the state, CM Nitish performed worship at the Kirti flag and pillar associated with Emperor Jarasandha. The Jarasandha Mahotsav, a cultural celebration of historical significance, was marked by the CM’s participation in various rituals and ceremonies aimed at honoring the legacy of the Magadh Emperor.
The All India Jarasandha Akhara Parishad extended a warm welcome to CM Nitish during the Mahotsav, presenting him with a congratulatory letter and a memento. Shyam Kishore Bharti, the National General Secretary of All India Jarasandha Akhara Parishad, read out the heartfelt congratulatory letter, expressing gratitude for the Chief Minister’s participation in the event.
During the ceremony, MP Chandeshwar Prasad Chandravanshi and National General Secretary Shyam Kishore Bharti symbolically presented a mace, signifying the bravery and valor of Emperor Jarasandha, to CM Nitish. The gesture aimed to acknowledge the CM’s commitment to preserving and celebrating the rich historical and cultural heritage of the region.
Following the Mahotsav, CM Nitish visited the construction site of the monumental 20-feet high statue of Emperor Jarasandha in Rajgir. Expressing his keen interest in the project, he issued instructions to officials, emphasizing the need to expedite the construction to ensure completion within the next six months. The CM also directed efforts to enhance the greenery and aesthetics around the statue’s installation site by planting as many trees as possible.
In a bid to create a serene and welcoming environment, CM Nitish called for the provision of comfortable seating facilities for visitors who come with their families, relatives, and friends. Considering the site’s unique setting, surrounded by water on all sides, he urged the construction of a pathway to facilitate easy movement of people to and from the statue’s location.
