Patna: The Bihar government has allocated Rs 400 crore under the Mukhya Mantri Samagra Urban Development Scheme to enhance infrastructure across the state’s cities. The funds will be used for constructing roads, parks, ghats, reservoirs, and drainage systems, with the Urban Development and Housing Department overseeing the expenditure for the financial year 2024-25.
The Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation (BUIDCO) has been tasked with implementing the projects through e-tendering, while district magistrates will monitor execution at the local level.
Patna has received the highest allocation, with Rs 64.72 crore set aside for urban development. Of this, Rs 42.55 crore is earmarked for Patna Municipal Corporation, Rs 4.60 crore for Danapur Municipal Council, Rs 2.10 crore for Masaurhi Municipal Council, and Rs 2.06 crore for Phulwarisharif Municipal Council. Punpun Nagar Panchayat received the lowest allocation in the district at Rs 32.60 lakh.
Gaya district has been allocated Rs 18.67 crore, making it the second-highest recipient. This includes Rs 11.97 crore for Gaya Municipal Corporation and Rs 1.98 crore for Bodh Gaya Municipal Council. Nalanda follows with Rs 17.85 crore, with Rs 8.53 crore directed to Biharsharif Municipal Corporation and Rs 1.83 crore for Rajgir. Other major allocations include Rohtas (Rs 15.83 crore), Muzaffarpur (Rs 15.42 crore), and Bhagalpur (Rs 15.10 crore).
At the lower end, Sheohar district received Rs 1.11 crore, while Arwal was allocated Rs 1.30 crore. District authorities have been instructed to draft action plans up to three times the allocated amount to ensure effective utilization of funds.
