Maha Kumbh Rush: Patna Police Mobilize Forces to Manage Bihta-Ara-Patna Traffic Jams

Patna: Traffic congestion on the Bihta-Ara-Patna route continues to cause severe delays, as the influx of pilgrims attending the Maha Kumbh has exacerbated an already challenging commute. In response, the Patna Police have devised a new strategy, deploying jawans across various checkposts in an attempt to ease the situation.

The persistent jams, which begin in the morning and stretch well into the evening, have resulted in significant disruptions for school vans, emergency vehicles, and daily commuters, many of whom find themselves stuck for hours. Authorities, including the Patna district administration, are closely monitoring the ongoing situation.

Danapur DSP-2 Pankaj Mishra, who is overseeing efforts to alleviate the chaos, was on the ground Wednesday, personally handling a traffic issue at the Bihta railway overbridge. During his inspection, Mishra discovered a sand-laden Hiva truck entering a no-entry zone. Further investigation revealed the truck was operating without the necessary sand challan, prompting Mishra to seize the vehicle. It was subsequently handed over to the IIT police station for further action.

Commenting on the current situation, DSP Mishra emphasized that the Bihta area was facing dual disruptions—construction work on the Danapur Bihta Elevated Road, alongside the heavy traffic related to the Maha Kumbh. To address the congestion, the Patna Police and district administration have established a comprehensive plan, which includes the deployment of additional personnel to man key checkpoints.

Mishra urged all drivers, particularly those of smaller vehicles, to adhere strictly to traffic rules, avoid overtaking, and drive in an orderly manner, as erratic driving has contributed to the ongoing jams.
