Lalu and Tejashwi Criticise PM Modi’s Bihar Visit, Call It an Election Gimmick

Patna: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of his visit to Bihar, accusing him of misleading the public with empty promises.
“The Prime Minister is in Bihar today, so there will be a shower of lies and slogans. Since it is an election year, foundation stones will be laid, inaugurations will be done in a sham manner, but the people of Bihar will get nothing,” Lalu said.
Echoing similar sentiments, Lalu’s younger son and Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav accused the Prime Minister of using Bihar as a political tool. “He is here only to confuse people. Earlier, after the Delhi elections, he said Bihar was next. Now that elections are near, everyone will come. If the Prime Minister visits, that’s fine, but all he does is raise slogans and deceive the public,” Tejashwi said.
Taking aim at the BJP-led central government, he added, “For 20 years, Bihar has given a chance to the double-engine government. Modi has been in power at the Centre for 11 years, and Nitish Kumar has been CM for 20 years, yet Bihar remains at the bottom in literacy, per capita income, investment, and farmers’ earnings. It leads in unemployment and poverty.”
Tejashwi also recalled past promises made by the Prime Minister. “Farmers are dying, but he has done nothing for them. What happened to the Rs 1.25 lakh crore package he promised Bihar? He remembers Bihar only during elections. Last time, he went to Champaran and promised to restart a sugar mill there. He said he would drink tea there on his next visit. Where is that sugar mill now?”
Accusing the BJP of exploiting Bihar for electoral gains, Tejashwi said, “This is just election management. Announcements will be made, but what happened to previous ones? Migration continues, poverty remains. This visit is just another attempt to mislead the people.”
