Patna: As the festival of Holi approaches, difficulties in Bihar are expected to intensify due to a forecasted increase in maximum temperatures by 2 to 3°C over the next three days. This surge in heat is anticipated to worsen living conditions and pose serious health risks for residents across the state.
A recent report noted that dry weather conditions have driven up the maximum temperature in 26 cities, including Patna. The capital recorded a high of 31.7°C, while Buxar reached a scorching 34.5°C, making it the hottest location in the state. In most districts, minimum temperatures have also risen, with Patna’s minimum temperature at 19.5°C; the lowest recorded minimum was 14.4°C at Pusa in Samastipur.
In addition, significant temperature increases have been observed in several major cities over the past 24 hours:
- Arwal: +1.5°C
- Aurangabad: +2.6°C
- Dehri: +1.4°C
- Sasaram: +2.7°C
- Buxar: +2.5°C
- Begusarai: +1.3°C
- Munger: +1.3°C
- Madhepura: +1.3°C
- Muzaffarpur: +1.2°C
- Madhubani: +2.1°C
“Residents need to be vigilant as the rising temperatures could increase the risk of heat-related illnesses,” said a senior weather official. “With such significant increases, especially in urban areas, it is crucial for people to stay hydrated and take preventive measures.”
