Patna : Former Chief Minister Rabri Devi has launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, alleging that he attends the state assembly under the influence of bhang (cannabis) and disrespects women. Speaking to reporters in the Vidhan Sabha premises on Wednesday, the Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council accused Nitish Kumar of making derogatory remarks about women, particularly about their clothing before 2005.

“CM Nitish keeps saying that before 2005, women did not wear clothes. I want to ask him and Prime Minister Narendra Modi—were their mothers and sisters not dressed earlier? Did they remain naked?” she said.

The senior Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader also challenged Nitish Kumar’s claims that Bihar witnessed no development before 2005, the year he first assumed the chief ministerial post. “The government should check old records to see the work we did for women, backward communities, and extremely backward people,” she asserted.

‘Was Nitish Kumar born in 2005?’
Rabri Devi ridiculed both CM Nitish and PM Modi, suggesting they acted as if they had no predecessors in governance. “Was Nitish Kumar born in 2005 and PM Narendra Modi in 2014? Did they drop from the sky? They should ask their parents—if no one went to the market before, how did business happen?” she said.

She alleged that Nitish Kumar was being influenced by a handful of Janata Dal (United) leaders, including Lallan Singh, Sanjay Jha, Vijay Chaudhary, and Ashok Chaudhary. “These people are filling his ears and provoking him. He is sitting in the BJP’s lap, and they are making him say all this,” she claimed.

‘Women’s insult is Bihar’s insult’
Rabri Devi said Nitish Kumar’s remarks were not just personal attacks but an affront to all women in Bihar. “Women of all classes are equal. If any woman is insulted, it is an insult to the entire state,” she said.

She also criticised the administration over reports that Muslims in Bihar were advised to stay indoors during Holi. “The Government of India and the Bihar government are running a regime of goons. Their hooliganism is evident,” she said.

Nitish Kumar has not yet responded to the allegations.
