Muzaffarpur Tragedy : Woman’s Body Left Outside Lover’s Home for 5 Days Amid Murder Claims

Muzaffarpur / Patna : A woman’s body was left outside her boyfriend’s house for five days in Muzaffarpur, before being cremated on his land in the presence of police. The funeral was conducted by her seven-year-old daughter, Sonali Kumari, following an agreement between the families and local authorities.
The incident took place in Gangaur village, under the Chakmehasi police station area. The deceased, identified as Manisha, was allegedly placed outside the house by her own family, who accused her lover, Babul Kumar, and his relatives of murder. Manisha’s mother, Shobha Devi, who traveled from Bengaluru, has filed a complaint against Babul and five members of his family.
Disputed Circumstances
According to police sources, Manisha had been married for eight years in Punas village, but had frequent conflicts with her in-laws. Meanwhile, Babul Kumar, also married with children, was allegedly in a long-term relationship with her. Villagers claim that Manisha had stayed at Babul’s home several times and had previously threatened him over their relationship.
Following Manisha’s death, her family claimed she was murdered and her body was hanged inside Babul’s house. However, Babul’s family insists she died by suicide.
Police Investigation Underway
Hatha OP in-charge Shobhit Yadav confirmed that an FIR has been registered based on Shobha Devi’s statement. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities examining the circumstances surrounding Manisha’s death.
After days of tension, the last rites were finally performed on Wednesday, with heavy police presence to maintain order.
