CBI Raids IIT Patna Over Alleged Irregularities in Online Courses

Patna: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted a four-hour raid at IIT Patna’s Bihta campus on Thursday, seizing multiple files and documents as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities.

A CBI team from Delhi carried out the operation following complaints from students who had written to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) about issues related to an online course at the institute. The complaints, filed around six months ago, raised concerns about mismanagement. Officials at IIT Patna have not commented on the matter.

According to sources, the central government had allocated funds to IIT Patna, and investigators have taken records detailing expenditure, including documents related to construction projects, tenders, and events. The CBI is expected to scrutinise financial transactions to determine any possible misappropriation of funds.
