Patna : Holi festivities are in full swing across Bihar, with the official celebrations taking place on March 15 in most parts of the state. While the state revels in colour and joy, politics has also found a place in the festival’s spirit.
Rohini Acharya, daughter of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad , took an indirect swipe at Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on social media. Without naming him, she posted a sarcastic message on X (formerly Twitter), suggesting that the CM has grown increasingly irritable.
“Sometimes he launches a train in ‘someone’s’ name, sometimes he fires arrows of whispers. Now he seems irritated by even the smallest things. But still, our ‘uncle’ is quite fun-loving. Jogira…! Don’t feel bad, it’s Holi! But then again, you are free to feel bad too,” she wrote.
Her comments appear to reference recent political tensions and Nitish Kumar’s shifting alliances in Bihar’s political landscape.
Tej Pratap’s Holi Reel Goes Viral
Meanwhile, Lalu Yadav’s elder son and RJD leader Tej Pratap Yadav celebrated Holi in his signature flamboyant style. Dressed in a yellow T-shirt and sky-blue jeans, he shared a video on Instagram, drenched in colours while the song Aaj Nandlal Mein Gulaal Barsat Hai played in the background.
Extending his Holi greetings, he said, “May this Holi bring all the colours of peace, happiness and joy into your life.”
Tejashwi Yadav’s Call for a Prosperous Bihar
Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav used the occasion to make a broader statement about Bihar’s future. He wished for a Holi filled with “the colours of jobs, progress, and development” and urged people to look forward to positive change.
“Let us begin a new chapter that will make Bihar prosperous. On this festival of colours, may your life always be filled with joy,” he said in his message.
Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad’s Holi Messages
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, in his official Holi greeting, emphasized social harmony. “Holi is a symbol of unity and brotherhood. May this festival bring happiness and prosperity to everyone in the state,” he said.
Lalu Prasad also marked the occasion with a political undertone. Sharing a post on social media, he said, “Bihar is taking a vow to end all evil on this Holika Dahan,” in a message that appeared to target the BJP.
Patna’s Festive Spirit: Celebrations and Mutton Shop Rush
Beyond the political messages, Holi celebrations have gripped Patna, with people smearing each other in colours and exchanging sweets. In keeping with tradition, long queues were seen outside mutton shops, as revellers prepared for the customary festive feast.
Former MP Ramkripal Yadav was spotted enjoying Holi during his morning walk at Gandhi Maidan, embracing the festive spirit.
