Jewellery Worth Rs 18 Lakh Stolen From Shop in Rohtas, Police Probe Underway

Sasaram/Patna: Thieves stole gold and silver jewellery worth Rs 18 lakh from a jewellery shop in Parasthua market, Rohtas, on Thursday night. The entire incident was captured on CCTV, showing masked miscreants breaking into the shop and escaping with the valuables.
According to the footage, two men lifted the shop’s shutter using an iron rod before entering. With their faces covered with towels, they looted 13 kg of silver and 60 grams of gold jewellery before fleeing the scene.
The shop owner, Devendra Kumar, who runs Ragini Jewellers in a rented space on Kudra Road, discovered the break-in on Friday morning. “When I arrived at the shop at 10 am, I found the shutter lock broken and the shop ransacked. Jewellery worth around Rs 18 lakh had been stolen,” he said.
Following the incident, Kumar filed a complaint with the local police. However, residents expressed anger over the delayed police response, claiming officers arrived two hours after the theft was reported.
Station in-charge Ramchandra Chaupal said the police are analysing CCTV footage to identify the culprits. “Two thieves were involved in the incident. Efforts are underway to trace them,” he added.
