Bihar road projects under scrutiny: Minister Nitin Nabin orders stricter site inspections and penalties

Patna: Road Construction Minister Nitin Nabin reviewed the progress of projects implemented by Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited (BSRDCL) and those announced during Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s visit. During the departmental conference hall meeting, Nabin directed that projects with extended deadlines must be completed on time. He ordered engineers to inspect the sites every two days and review the progress.

Expressing dissatisfaction over delayed projects, Nabin instructed action against negligent agencies as per rules. He directed officials to review the causes of delays thoroughly and deduct payments from agencies found responsible. He emphasized that engineers must remain vigilant and resolve any obstacles hindering project progress.

The minister also directed the BSRDCL Managing Director to amend the penalty system. He stressed the need for high-level monitoring of all projects and warned engineers against granting time extensions without valid reasons. Nabin stated that disciplinary action would be taken against engineers who approve unwarranted extensions.

During the review, the progress of the six-lane New Ganga Bridge under construction from Kachchi Dargah to Bidopur was assessed. The minister highlighted the use of ultra-modern technology in the bridge’s construction and expressed hope that it would become a symbol of pride for Bihar. Updates were also taken on the Kathpur Bakhtiyarpur Ganga Bridge connecting NH 31 to NH 28, the Mansi-Simri Bakhtiyarpur Road (State Highway 95), the Bettiah-Narkatiaganj Road (State Highway 105), and the Mithapur-Mahuli project in Patna.

Concluding the meeting, Nabin ordered weekly review meetings for all projects. He also called for regular maintenance of completed projects and continuous monitoring of their upkeep. He praised the NDA government’s contribution to Bihar’s development, highlighting the road construction department’s efforts in building new roads, which will save time and fuel while improving transportation efficiency. Nabin also urged officials to expedite work on schemes announced during Chief Minister’s Pragati Yatra.
