Saharsa: Two students of Saharsa College of Engineering have developed a groundbreaking IoT-based power substation inspection robot, a significant innovation aimed at enhancing safety and efficiency in the electricity sector. Md. Dilshad Akhtar and Gyanesh, the young innovators behind this project, have designed the robot to automate the inspection of high-voltage power substations, reducing human risk in hazardous environments.

Prof. Ramchandra Prasad, Principal of Saharsa College of Engineering, lauded the students’ efforts, stating that such innovations enhance the prestige of educational institutions and contribute to societal progress. “This robotic system will revolutionize power supply monitoring, making it safer and more efficient. It will not only protect employees from high-voltage risks but also ensure more accurate and effective inspections,” he added.

Currently, power substation inspections are conducted manually, posing serious risks due to high voltage. Dilshad explained that their robot is equipped with advanced sensor and camera technology, allowing it to navigate a predetermined route and collect essential data automatically. This will not only improve monitoring but also ensure the safety of workers who are exposed to potential electrical hazards during manual inspections.

The duo’s innovative project has secured the second position in Bihar, bringing pride to their institution. Dilshad hails from Simri Bakhtiyarpur in Saharsa district, while Gyanesh is a resident of Rani village in Begusarai district.
