Escalator to Be Reinstalled at Muzaffarpur Junction as Railways Issues Tender

Muzaffarpur / Patna : Passengers at Muzaffarpur Junction can expect a major relief soon, as preparations to reinstall the long-defunct escalator have begun. As per media reports, the Railways has issued a tender to restore the facility, which is set to be installed near the new foot overbridge (FOB) at the southern gate of the station. The move is expected to ease the journey for elderly, disabled, and sick passengers who have long been awaiting the return of the escalator.

Escalator to Ease Platform Access

The escalator, which was previously located near the old ticket counter, was removed as part of the station’s redevelopment plan. Now, with its reinstallation near the new booking counter and FOB at the southern gate, passengers will once again have easier access to platforms.

Long Wait Comes to an End

The tender, valued at an estimated Rs1.59 crore, includes the repair and restoration of seven lifts and two escalators across Muzaffarpur, Hajipur, and Barauni stations, along with provisions for annual maintenance. The final date for submitting bids has been set for April 15.

Lift Restoration to Follow

While the tender includes provisions for repairing and restoring the lift facility, the Railways has clarified that the escalator will be prioritised to provide immediate relief to passengers. The reinstallation process is expected to proceed swiftly, although passengers may need to wait a bit longer before the lift becomes operational again.
