Patna: The Bihar government has approved a plan to develop Rajdhani Jalashay as an eco-tourism and conservation site. Bandana Preyashi, Secretary of the Department of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, stated that the long-awaited project has finally received the green signal. A budget of approximately Rs. 7 to 7.5 crore has been sanctioned for the beautification of the jalashay, biodiversity conservation, and its transformation into an eco-sensitive zone.
A key objective of this initiative is to create a safe habitat for migratory and local birds, helping in their conservation and increasing their numbers. To enhance the experience for visitors, an interpretation center will be constructed, providing detailed information about the bird species found in the region.
The state government is also focusing on developing green zones in various districts, including Nawada and Sitamarhi. Efforts are being made for wetland conservation, which will not only help maintain ecological balance but also promote eco-tourism. Parks and green zones are being designed as artificial lungs to improve air quality and reduce pollution, ensuring a healthier environment for the people.
Additionally, a development plan for Valmiki Tiger Reserve has been approved, aiming to boost wildlife conservation and tourism. This initiative will turn the reserve into a key attraction for bird watchers, nature enthusiasts, and tourists. It will also contribute to biodiversity conservation while creating new employment opportunities in the region.
