Patna: Patna Municipal Corporation is working at full capacity to ensure that ghats across the city are ready for Chaiti Chhath, allowing devotees to perform rituals without inconvenience. The municipal commissioner has been personally inspecting the ghats, instructing officials to accelerate preparations, which include approach roads, barricading, lighting, and sanitation.
A total of 41 ghats along the Ganges, stretching from Patipul Ghat to Didarganj, as well as seven ponds, are being readied for the festival. The work is spread across multiple municipal zones: Bankipur (12 ghats), Azimabad (9), Patna City (12), and Pataliputra (7). Additionally, Nutan Rajdhani Zone is preparing one ghat along with seven ponds. Safety measures such as barricading and marked pathways have been implemented, alongside essential facilities including drinking water, toilets, changing rooms, and continuous cleaning services.
Prominent ghats being prepared include Ghagha Ghat, Roshan Ghat, Pathri Ghat, Patna College Ghat, Gandhi Ghat, and Krishna Ghat in the Bankipur Zone. The Azimabad Zone covers sites such as Gai Ghat and Mahavir Ghat, while Patna City Zone includes Mirchai Ghat and Kilaghat. Pataliputra Zone features ghats such as Collectorate Ghat and Bans Ghat, while Nutan Rajdhani Zone is focusing on Mahendu Ghat and key ponds, including those at Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park and Manikchand.
Municipal officials, including the executive officer of Pataliputra and senior engineers, recently inspected the ghats to review progress. The administration has assured that all necessary arrangements will be in place to ensure a smooth and safe celebration for devotees.
