Nalanda / Patna : A 100-year-old Shivalinga has been stolen from an ancient Shiva temple in Kathauli village, Nalanda district, Bihar. The thieves also took the idol of Nandi and reportedly attempted to damage other idols within the temple.
The incident, which took place in the Rahui police station area, has sparked anger among villagers, who regard the temple as a site of historical and religious significance. Residents claim that the stolen idols were not only ancient but also of great cultural value.
Dharmendra Kumar, the chief of Mai Farida Panchayat, condemned the theft, describing it as an attack on the faith of the local community. He urged authorities to take swift action, arrest those responsible, and ensure the return of the stolen idols.
The temple priest expressed his distress over the incident, stating that the site had been a place of worship for generations. “The Shivalinga and Nandi Maharaj idol were symbols of devotion for thousands of devotees. This theft has deeply saddened us all,” he said.
Local police have launched an investigation, with officers reviewing CCTV footage from the area. Rahui police station officer Kunal Kumar assured the community that efforts were underway to identify and apprehend the perpetrators.
