Patna College Notice: Hostel Evacuation Deadline Set for Thursday

Bombing firing at Patna College

PATNA – In response to a directive from the DSW office, Patna College’s administration has issued a notice mandating the closure of Minto, Jackson, and Iqbal hostels, including Nadvi, for an indefinite period. Students residing in these hostels are required to vacate their rooms and remove their belongings by 5 pm on Thursday.

This decision follows a violent clash between two groups of hostels on Monday, leading to an incident involving bombing and firing. The verdict was reached during a meeting chaired by the Vice Chancellor on Tuesday.

The aftermath of the violence prompted Raj Bhavan to instruct the university administration to identify the perpetrators and take decisive action. The campus had witnessed a similar episode five months ago, resulting in the closure of the hostel.

To unravel the details of the recent conflict, authorities are examining CCTV footage from the campus. Additionally, videos captured on mobile phones are under scrutiny to pinpoint those involved in the altercation.

Six individuals accused of the bombing and firing incident at Patna College were apprehended by the Pirbahor police station on Tuesday. Subsequently, they were sent to jail, with 18 individuals named in the FIR. The police are actively conducting raids to arrest the remaining suspects.

SSP Rajiv Mishra confirmed ongoing efforts to restore law and order, including discussions with the Vice Chancellor to address the situation comprehensively.
