Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday inspected the progress of a two-lane link road under construction over the Mandiri Nala in Patna. The road, which will connect Nehru Path, commonly known as Bailey Road to JP Ganga Path, is expected to ease congestion and improve connectivity in the area.
During the visit, CM Nitish reviewed the construction work near Bihar Kala Mahavidyalaya, Kali Mandir, and Income Tax Golambar at Bansghat. He was briefed by Abhay Kumar Singh, secretary of the Urban Development and Housing Department, who provided an update on the project’s status. The elevated road will extend from Bansghat on the Danapur-Bankipur route to JP Ganga Path, with provisions for a drainage system, utility ducts, and service roads.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure the project is completed within the stipulated timeline, emphasizing that the boundary wall of Bihar Kala Mahavidyalaya should remain intact. Addressing local residents who gathered during his visit, the chief minister said the road would significantly reduce traffic congestion, save commuting time, and contribute to the overall development of the area.
The project spans 1,289 meters and includes a box drain cum link road from Income Tax Golambar to Bansghat. Additional infrastructure includes two ramps, three desilting chambers, four sluice gates for water management, and landscaping with street lighting to enhance the road’s aesthetics.
Residents in Mandiri expressed their appreciation for the initiative, raising slogans in support of the chief minister and thanking him for the ongoing development efforts.
The inspection was attended by senior officials, including Water Resources and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Road Construction Minister Nitin Naveen, Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, Urban Development Secretary Abhay Kumar Singh, and Patna District Magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh, along with municipal and police officials.
