Young Man Shot Dead in Broad Daylight in Patna’s Marine Drive

Patna: A 26-year-old man was shot dead in broad daylight on Friday afternoon on JP Ganga Path, commonly known as Patna’s Marine Drive, under Sultanganj police station area. The victim, identified as Mohammad Shahnawaz, a resident of Khajekala, was on his way to court when he was ambushed on JP Ganga Path.
According to police reports, Shahnawaz was traveling on a scooter with his friend, Mohammad Kaif, when two assailants on an Apache motorbike followed them. As they neared Marine Drive, the attackers opened fire, shooting Shahnawaz in the head. He was rushed to Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) in critical condition, where doctors declared him dead. Police recovered three bullet shells from the crime scene.
Sultanganj police station in-charge Manoj Kumar stated that initial investigations suggest the attack may have stemmed from a personal dispute. “We are examining all possible angles, and CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed,” he said.
Eyewitness Mohammad Kaif recounted the chilling sequence of events, stating that the assailants fired at Shahnawaz before fleeing eastward. The incident sparked panic, drawing a large crowd to the scene as law enforcement officials launched a probe into the killing.
